Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has expressed her profound sorrow over the devastating helicopter crash in Ghana that claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials.

In a post shared on Twitter, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala extended her deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the grieving families, and the entire nation.

“My deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the people of Ghana for the tragic loss of the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, along with six others in a terrible helicopter crash. May their souls rest in perfect peace,” the renowned Nigerian economist, author, and entrepreneur wrote.

The other victims are : Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Samuel Sarpong; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye; and military personnel Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, announced the tragic news at a press conference and directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast in honour of the victims.
