“As Ghanaians, we must be tired of being poor and being described as poor.” This is the statement from the presidential adviser on the , Goosie Tanoh, to court public support for the flagship initiative.

Though emotional, deeply stimulating, Goosie Tanoh says it is not just a cry of national frustration, but rather,  it is a call to national action for alleviation

He says it is a call for a mindset shift, which is also captured in the 24-Hour Economy’s document as another leg of the initiative.   

This is also a clarion call for a transformative economic mindset that seeks to end the cycle of poverty and underachievement in a nation blessed with immense natural wealth and boundless human potential.

Speaking at a media briefing on the ‘s flagship 24-Hour Economy initiative, Goosie did not mince words. He spoke directly to the soul of a country that has for far too long been shackled by systemic inefficiencies, , and a tragically underutilized workforce.

He insists Ghanaians are a people of talent, of dignity, of resilience, and therefore cannot continue to be tagged as a poor country when we have , cocoa, , , and, most importantly, intelligent, hardworking young people.

“As Ghanaians, we must be tired of being poor and being described as poor when we have such vast resources and also the potential for extraordinary improved human capital that will drive this program,” Goosie Tanoh lamented.

The 24-Hour Economy, he says, is Ghana’s opportunity to change this narrative permanently.

The initiative, the presidential adviser says, is a response to that status quo. It is not just another policy. It is an economic revolution driven by the private sector, enterprise growth, and . It envisions a Ghana where economic activity does not go to sleep at 6 p.m., but continues into the night, creating jobs, generating income, and increasing national productivity.

“This program is basically a private sector program,” Goosie emphasized. “We believe that the private sector, both domestically and internationally, will step up to the investment opportunities that are created by the program and indeed by the government’s other economic policies.”

By extending working hours in key sectors, manufacturing, agro-processing, transportation, logistics, tourism, , and ICT, the 24-Hour Economy is designed to stimulate enterprise-level growth. He adds that it is growth that is inclusive, job-creating, and productivity-enhancing, with the overarching goal of breaking the shackles of poverty and the poverty mindset.
