Black Queens forward Stella Nyamekye says Ghana is “mentally prepared” to face South Africa in the third-place playoff after their heartbreaking defeat to Morocco in the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Queens suffered a 4-2 penalty loss to the hosts after a 1-1 draw in regulation time and extra time.
The defeat ended the nation’s hopes of securing a maiden title in the continental competition.
“We have prepared very well for this game,” Stella said.
“Per the training we have had, we are mentally prepared for this game.”
Head Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren also added: “We had a group of coaches, staff members, and players who were really disappointed but back on track again and focus on the next game.
“We want to do the best we can to win it.”
Ghana take on defending champions South Africa on Friday, July 25 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
It is a familiar meeting as both sides met at the group stages where South Africa beat Ghana 2-0.
