The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has commended the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) Ashanti Sub-Transmission Region for improving supply stability and strengthening communication with customers.
The praise came from PURC’s Ashanti Regional Manager, Edward Kingston Boduah, during a regulatory visit to Kumasi, where the Commission’s team engaged ECG management on compliance issues and preparations ahead of a public hearing scheduled for October 14, 2025, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall.
“Your commitment to system improvements and proactive maintenance is highly commendable. We are equally impressed with your stakeholder communication efforts, particularly the timely updates shared on the Utility Stakeholders Platform,” Boduah said.
He also singled out the region’s Public Relations Unit for leading reliability-focused communication and boosting public awareness of ECG operations.
In response, Ing. Peter Fletcher, General Manager of ECG Ashanti Sub-Transmission, expressed gratitude on behalf of staff and assured the regulator of sustained improvements.
“This recognition is for the many people on the ground whose hard work keeps the system running. We are committed to active participation in the upcoming public hearing and will ensure a smooth event with backup systems and standby support,” he noted.
The commendation follows intensified efforts by ECG Ashanti to enhance supply reliability, improve operational safety, and deepen stakeholder engagement across the region.
