Philanthropist Dr Alvin Kwabena Ansah, popularly known as Draka PC, has donated some items to flood victims in Ashaley Botwe in Greater Accra.

The items donated to hundreds of residents included bags of rice and bottles of oil, as well as other foodstuffs worth thousands of cedis.

This kind gesture by Dr Ansah through the Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation comes after last Sunday’s devastating rains in the capital that have left many displaced and killed four.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the donation, Dr Ansah said extending a helping hand to all those affected by the flood was a shared responsibility as we demonstrate love to our fellow patriots.

“We all witnessed what happened last Sunday in a major town in Accra and how people have been massively affected, with reports of others being killed by the flood.

“It is an unfortunate situation, and I extend condolences to all affected families. But as we reflect on the losses, I think we have to support each other.

“That is why I decided to donate these items to some members of the community who have lost virtually everything because of the floods,” he said.

Mr Van Calebs, founder of the Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation, lauded Mr Ansah for coming to the aid of hundreds of people in the area who had been affected by the floods.

He noted that many of the residents are in dire need of some basic items to support their living as he urged corporate institutions and other stakeholders to come to their rescue.

“It is a very sad situation we have here, and you can see how devastated most people are due to the fact that they have lost almost everything.

“But all hope is not lost, as we will continue to support flood victims in Ashaley Botwe area and we have plans of moving our support in other affected areas,” he said.
