Nsoatreman quitting the Ghana Premier League is unfortunate - Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says Nsoatreman Football Club’s decision to quit the Ghana Premier League is ‘unfortunate’.

Nsoatreman confirmed their withdrawal from the ongoing 2024/25 season due to concerns over the “security and safety” of their players.

It is understood that aggrieved supporters intended to retaliate after Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong Pooley was stabbed to death during the Porcupines’ clash with Nsoatreman on February 2.

Their decision to resign followed an alleged attack by unknown persons in Kukuom in the Ahafo Region when Nsoatreman travelled to face Samartex at Bibiani Duns Park.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Okraku touched on the impact of the decision.

“It’s unfortunate because Ignatius Baffour Awuah is my good friend. For somebody who has invested in football to go through that is unfortunate,” he said.

“At the end of the day, it’s their decision and not mine. It’s important that at a point in time, you respect people’s decisions.”
