The chase for national glory continued in the Ahafo Region today as three schools booked their spots in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2025 national championship.
Samuel Otu Presbyterian Senior High Technical School kicked off the day in contest 1, finishing first with 33 points to become the first Ahafo school in the regional qualifiers to qualify for this year’s nationals.
They held off competition from Ahafoman SHTS with 24 points, Hwidem SHS with 23, and Twereku Ampem SHS, who finished with 15 points.
In contest 2, it was Mim SHS clinching victory with 18 points in a closely contested battle. Despite the low score, the lowest so far by any qualifying school, Mim SHS made history by earning their second appearance at the national championship, their first being in 2022.
They edged past Acherensua SHS and Presec Bechem, who both ended with 16 points, while Boakye Tromo SHTS finished with 4 points.
The final contest of the day saw a dominant display from Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS, who posted 55 points, the highest score in the Ahafo Region.
This victory sends them back to the nationals for the second consecutive time, having first qualified in 2024. They defeated Bomaa SHS with 31 points, Ola Girls’ SHS Kenyasi with 28, and Sankore SHS with 13.
With the Ahafo qualifiers wrapped up, Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS, Mim SHS, and Samuel Otu Presby SHTS are headed to the national stage.
