The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially disassociated itself from remarks made by its Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, concerning Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams during a recent appearance on Ohia TV.

In a statement released by the party’s National Secretariat, the NPP described Baffoe’s comments as “unfortunate and unprovoked,” stressing that they do not reflect the values, beliefs, or official position of the party.

“The party unequivocally distances itself from those comments,” said Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP’s General Secretary. He emphasized that the NPP holds religious leadership in high regard and acknowledged the contributions of Archbishop Duncan-Williams and the broader religious community to national development, peace, and moral guidance.

The statement underlined the party’s commitment to freedom of expression within its democratic and inclusive tradition. However, it also urged members to exercise that freedom with responsibility, particularly when addressing revered religious figures whose influence cuts across partisan lines.

“We urge the general public, especially the Christian community, to treat Mr. Baffoe’s personal views as entirely his own and not attributable to the New Patriotic Party,” the statement read.

The NPP reaffirmed its dedication to respectful engagement across all sectors of Ghanaian society and its intention to continue partnering with religious institutions for the nation’s collective advancement.
