The National Communications Authority (NCA) has hosted a three-member delegation from the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation on a one-day benchmarking visit at the NCA Tower in Accra, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in the broadcasting sector.

The delegation, led by Rodney Thadeus Mbuya, Acting Director of Information Services at Tanzania’s Ministry of Information, Culture, Art and Sports, visited to learn how the Government of Ghana funds and supports its state broadcaster amid rapid technological change in the media industry.

Welcoming the team on behalf of the NCA Director General, Dr. Charles Amoah-Wilson, Director of Human Resources at the Authority, underscored the importance of peer exchanges for advancing institutional capacity across Africa.

The engagement provided a platform for knowledge sharing on regulatory practices and approaches to ensuring the sustainability of public service broadcasting. Both parties acknowledged the significance of cooperation in addressing the evolving challenges facing the industry across the continent.

As part of the visit, NCA engineers outlined the Authority’s regulatory mandate in the broadcasting sector, including licensing, spectrum management, monitoring, and other interventions aimed at sustaining a vibrant and competitive broadcasting environment.

The NCA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peer regulators through capacity-building programmes, benchmarking visits, and exchange of best practices in line with Africa’s digital transformation agenda.

The Tanzanian delegation also included Nestory Leonard Madirisha, Head of Planning and Investment, and Juma Thomas, Principal Legal Officer at the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation.
