Motivate Forestry Commission Boss To Fight Galamsey

Some concerned youth from the Western North Region, mostly from the governing National Democratic Congress, have appealed to President John Mahama, Minister of Lands, Armah Kofi Buah and CEO of Forestry commission to reject request by some irate Sankore youth calling for the transfer of Western North Regional Manager of the Forestry commission, Mr Stephen Duah.

The irate youth expressed their displeasure at Mr. Stephen Duah’s continued stay in office.

On the contrary, Mr Oga Manu, Assembly for Sefwi Wiawso New Town, called the bluff of the irate youth and opined that the Concerned Youth had had enough of illegal miners invading the forest reserves and destroying them, and appealed to President Mahama, Minister of Lands, and the Forestry CEO to keep Mr Stephen Duah at post and motivate him to protect the forest for the community.

The assemblyman described Mr Stephen Duah as a capable hand who could work well with stakeholders to fight the illegal mining, popularly called Galamsey, to its logical conclusion.

Mr Joseph Agyeman, a leader of the Concerned Youth, hinted that the call for Mr Duah’s transfer from the Western North region was premature, and an evil plot to thwart the unrelenting fight against galamsey and illegal logging.
