Kings University College joins in national mourning to honour Fallen Heroes; Commiserates with State and Family

It is with immeasurable grief and a profound sense of national loss that Kings University College’s Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) joins the entire Republic of Ghana in mourning the tragic helicopter crash of the August 6, 2025.

In that single, heart-wrenching moment, our nation was robbed of some of its brightest leaders, dedicated statesmen, and gallant servicemen – men whose hearts beat only for the progress, safety, and dignity of Ghana.

We bow our heads in deep sorrow for the lives of:

1. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defense, whose visionary leadership and unyielding dedication to safeguarding our nation’s peace and security earned him enviable admiration across all political divides.

• Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, who was a tireless advocate for innovation, environmental stewardship, and the transformation of Ghana through science and technology.

• Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordination, who was a quiet yet formidable force in protecting the Republic from threats, both seen and unseen.

• Dr. Samual Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC, who was a seasoned politician and unwavering servant of the people, whose wisdom was a guiding light to many.

• Mr. Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate and Deputy Director General of NADMO, a man of resilience and compassion whose service saved countless lives in moments of disaster.

• Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, the pilot, was a well-disciplined airman whose skill and courage embodied the highest traditions of the Ghana Armed Forces.

• Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, the Co-pilot, a young officer whose professionalism and dedication promised a brilliant future cut painfully short.

• Seargent Ernest Addo Mensah, crew member and a loyal serviceman who gave his all to the call of duty without hesitation.

For Kings University College TEIN, this strategy is not just a national event, it is a deeply personal one. The values these men stood for integrity, service, courage, and devotion to the people are the very values we strive to instill in every student, every leader, and every citizen we nurture.

We also acknowledge the impressive and dignified way the government, led by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, organized the funeral and burial event for our fallen heroes. That, indeed, reflected who the fallen heroes were to deserve such a distinguished final goodbye.

May the Almighty grant them eternal rest in His peace. May be comfort the brokenhearted and heal our land.

Rest well, gallant sons of Ghana, till we meet again. You have fought a good fight; you have finished the race and have kept the faith.
