Senyo K. Hosi, Convener of the Ghana Individual Bondholders’ Forum

Senyo Hosi, Convener of the One Ghana Movement, has echoed concerns raised by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia regarding the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to him, a more inclusive and consultative appointment process will curb political animosity.

Speaking JoyNews’ Newsfile, Hosi highlighted that the appointment of former EC Chairperson Charlotte Osei lacked consultation and inclusiveness, a factor he believes contributed significantly to the tension leading to her removal.

“I maintained that Charlotte was not consultatively appointed, it was not an inclusive process, and that also fed into the kind of animosity that led to her removal,” he said.

He further warned that similar issues are evident in the appointment of Justice Getrude Torkonoo and cautioned that the same challenges could arise with the imminent appointment of Electoral Chairperson, Jean Mensah to the commission.

“We need to find a way to solve this problem,” Hosi stressed.

Hosi emphasised that all relevant stakeholders should be involved in the appointment process to ensure collective ownership and bolster public confidence.

“I have recommended that we have an inclusive process which has all the relevant parties making contribution to it so that we own our EC together, so that we own our Chief Justice together.”
