I’m poised to enhance education delivery in my constituency – Gizella Tetteh

Gizella Tetteh Abgotui, Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya West Constituency, with support from NERO Beverages, has commissioned a three-unit classroom block for Zakarikope SDA Basic School.

Additionally, she presented 600 desks to the District Education Directorate for onward distribution to 29 basic schools.

In an interview with the GNA, she said the initiative was part of her quest to eradicate schools under trees and provide a lasting solution to the inadequate classrooms for academic excellence.

“So today we have commissioned a KG block and handed over 600 desks to the education directorate to be distributed to 29 schools.”

She said the education infrastructural deficit was high in the Area and needed urgent attention to address them.

“Apart from the insufficient table and chairs there is congestion in many of the classrooms because of insufficient classroom blocks.

Again, many of our schools need renovation. Some schools still have broken doors and windows.”

“We want to face-lift this constituency and we are poised to do that. It will not be long for me to institute a training workshop for teachers to improve education in this constituency,” the MP added.

On teachers’ accommodation, she was optimistic that the district housing scheme would begin from next year to address teacher accommodation in the constituency.

“However, there are some uncompleted ones, and I have engaged the Assembly to complete them to provide accommodation for teachers.”

She assured that the President’s promise to include teachers’ quarters for every newly built school block would soon come to fruition.

She appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to support the constituency when the need arose.

She also encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously, as some would become Members of Parliament and great leaders in Ghana.

The Managing Director of NERO Beverages, Mr Manab Pattnaik, pledged the company’s commitment to build a six-unit classroom block each in all constituencies across the country to support education.

He encouraged students to take their academic life seriously and become great future leaders to help accelerate Ghana’s growth and development.
