The High Court of Justice (General Jurisdiction 8) in Accra has issued an order for substituted service in a legal case involving the McDan Group of Companies and journalist David Tamakloe.
Presided over by Her Ladyship Ellen L.S. Mireku, the court granted the application after considering an affidavit filed by one Fidel Robertson on March 25, 2025, in support of the motion for substituted service.
The court also heard legal submissions from Akua Dwumaa Owusu-Sekyere, with Godfred Gyimah Okyere Esq., representing the Plaintiff/Applicant McDan Group on behalf of Counsel Yaw Acheampong Boafo Esq.
The order allows the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim, initially filed on March 13, 2025, to be served on the defendant, David Tamakloe, through substituted service.
Specifically, the court directed that copies of the writ and claim be posted on the Notice Board of the Law Courts Complex in Accra, where they are to remain for ten (10) days.
This legal development follows what appears to be challenges in personally serving the defendant, necessitating the application under Order for Substituted Service provisions.
The Registrar of the court certified the document on May 5, 2025, marking a crucial step in the progression of the case between the McDan Group and the journalist.
Further details of the substantive claims by the McDan Group against David Tamakloe have not been disclosed in the court order, but the case is expected to attract significant public interest due to the high-profile nature of the parties involved.
