The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park has expressed its deepest sorrow and profound condolences to the President and the bereaved family of the victims of the tragic military helicopter crash.
The Acting Executive Director of the Park, Dr. Collin Rawlings Nunyonameh shared in the grief of the entire nation on the death of the distinguished public servants and service personnel, describing the incident as heartbreaking and a big blow to Ghana.
“We join the entire nation in mourning this heartbreaking tragedy and extend our sincere condolences to the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the government, and the families of these gallant servants”, he stated in a communique copied to myjoyonline.com.
The Z9 helicopter en route to Obuasi crashed in a dense forest area in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, killing five passengers and three crew members.
The deceased included Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment, Science and Technology Minister, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who were both 50.
Others were Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Muniru Mohammed, a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye, and the NDC’s National Vice Chairman and a former Kumasi Mayor, Samuel Sarpong.
The crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Dr. Nunyonameh eulogized the contributions of the public servants to the development of the country, stressing they would never be forgotten.
“Our thoughts and prayers are especially with the families of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, three exemplary public servants whose contributions to national development and public life will be remembered with reverence.”
“As we grieve this painful loss, we ask for God’s continued protection over the nation and
families left behind. May He grant us strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead”, he concluded.
