Government pledges dignified burial for late music legend Daddy Lumba

The management of the late Highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has revealed that it has received assurances from the Presidency regarding plans to grant the veteran musician a befitting state burial.

The commitment comes in response to mounting public calls for a national funeral to honour the celebrated artiste, whose immense contributions to Ghana’s music and creative arts industry spanned several decades.

Daddy Lumba, aged 60, passed away on Saturday, July 26, while receiving treatment at the Bank Hospital in Accra, prompting an outpouring of grief from fans and industry players alike.

Speaking to Channel One TV on Sunday, July 27, the late musician’s long-time manager, Philip Kwabena Agyemang Appiah-Kubi—widely known in entertainment circles as Roman Fada—disclosed that discussions with the Presidency have been positive.

“We have received encouraging feedback from the Presidency, and I am confident that President John Dramani Mahama will honour the call from the public for a fitting burial,” he stated.

Preparations are currently underway, as the nation continues to mourn one of its most revered cultural figures.
