In a welcoming development, Ghana’s position as one of the leading producers of gold is set for another major lift, as Asante Gold Corporation reports exciting new discoveries from ongoing exploration at its Bibiani and Chirano gold mines.
The company, in a detailed update on their exploration works released from Vancouver, the Ghana-focused gold producer shared highly encouraging drill results that point to extended mine life, fresh gold deposits, and new production potential.
This is a development that could significantly strengthen Ghana’s gold export earnings and local job creation.
High-Grade Gold Hits in Chirano
The update cited by The High Street Journal notes that the Asante Gold Corporation’s exploration works at Chirano Gold Mine have struck rich gold deposits at key sites. These sites are Obra, Suraw, Sariehu, and Magnetic Hinge.
Some of the drill holes returned impressive grades, including 45 metres of rock containing over 4 grams of gold per tonne, signaling strong potential for long-term mining.
At Obra Underground, the company reports that drilling confirmed a deep gold zone that connects structurally to the Sariehu deposit. This is an indication that Chirano’s underground system could be much larger than previously thought. The company says this could add years of production life and open new zones for development.

“Exploration drilling has continued to yield highly encouraging results, particularly in areas beyond the current reserve and resource envelopes. Significant progress was made at Obra Underground (“Obra”), Suraw Underground (“Suraw”), and Sariehu, where drilling intersected strong mineralization, supporting the potential for resource growth and mine life extension. New intercepts and assay results at Obra, Suraw, Sariehu, and Magnetic Hinge returned high-grade intervals,” the update noted.
New Discoveries Near Surface
Adding to the excitement is the Magnetic Hinge deposit, about 3 km south of Chirano’s main site. Asante Gold Corporation says drilling there has uncovered shallow, oxide-rich gold. This discovery, they say, is easier and cheaper to mine, which could feed short-term production while deeper underground operations expand.
“An exciting development was the advancement of near-surface oxide mineralization at the Magnetic Hinge deposit, located approximately 3.0km south of Akwaaba. Drilling results at Magnetic Hinge were positive enough to warrant the advancement of the project to pre-feasibility study (PFS) stage, signaling a potential new source of shallow, easily mineable oxide material that could support short to medium-term production strategies,” the company excitedly announced.

Strong Investment Backing Future Growth
Following a $500 million financing initiative completed in August 2025, Asante has earmarked over $9 million each for Bibiani and Chirano to fast-track exploration and boost output.
CEO of Asante Gold, Dave Anthony, says the new funding has already accelerated results and strengthened confidence in Ghana’s long-term gold prospects.
“We completed our $500M financing initiative in August 2025. More than $9M of this financing has been allocated to each of Chirano and Bibiani, to accelerate near mine exploration in 2025 and support long term planning of mining activities and gold production,” he indicated.
He added, “Results to date have been instrumental in reaffirming the potential for resource growth and mine life extension at our existing operations. With drilling at Obra confirming the extension of a mineralized shoot and its structural connection to the Sariehu deposit at depth, we are encouraged to advance our efforts at Chirano to extend the life of mine.”

A Boost for Ghana’s Economy
Gold remains Ghana’s biggest export earner, contributing billions annually to the economy. New finds like those at Chirano and Bibiani could help shore up the country’s foreign exchange reserves, improve rural livelihoods, and create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs across the value chain, from drilling and logistics to refining and transport.
The discoveries also come at a time when Ghana is seeking to maximize domestic value addition in mining and stabilize its currency through higher export inflows.
Asante plans to continue aggressive drilling through late 2025 and into 2026, with full technical reports for both mines expected by April 2026. The company is confident the new data will confirm substantial resource growth, cementing its position as one of Ghana’s key gold producers.
