A fire broke out in the early hours of today at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC), causing significant damage to several offices but resulting in no casualties. The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) confirmed the incident in an official statement released earlier.

According to the GTA, the fire started around 12:30 AM, prompting an immediate response from the Ghana National Fire Service. Their swift action ensured the flames were brought under control, preventing further destruction.

While no injuries were reported, the fire affected key offices within the facility, including the International Affairs Department, the GTA Call Center, the Tour Operators Association of Ghana, and the National Film Authority. The extent of the damage to equipment and documents is yet to be fully assessed.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine its origin. The GTA has urged the public to remain calm and await further updates through official channels.

Bright Asempa Tsadidey, Director of Corporate Affairs for the GTA, signed off on the release, expressing gratitude for the emergency services’ efforts and reassuring stakeholders of ongoing communication.
