The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured residents of Obuasi and its surrounding communities of improved power stability as it begins a region-wide revenue mobilization drive.

At a media engagement held in Obuasi, ECG officials addressed recent concerns over unstable electricity supply in the area.

The company attributed the intermittent power outages to a damaged transformer operated by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), which serves the Obuasi Bulk Supply Point (BSP).

The transformer was affected by a fire outbreak, causing temporary disruptions to electricity distribution.

Speaking to journalists, the Regional Engineer for Ashanti South, the Obuasi District Manager, and the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Sub-Transmission network explained that the issue is being resolved.

A new transformer has been installed by GRIDCo and is currently awaiting commissioning to restore full capacity to the BSP.

“We want to assure our valued customers that we are working closely with GRIDCo to stabilize the system. Once the new transformer is commissioned, power reliability in Obuasi will significantly improve,” the officials stated.

To complement its technical efforts, ECG is intensifying public education on its operations and the ongoing revenue mobilization campaign.

The company is deploying information vans, engaging local information centers, and organizing outreach programs in markets to keep residents informed and involved.

The initiative, ECG said, underscores its commitment to transparent communication, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

The revenue mobilization exercise forms part of broader efforts to enhance service delivery and ensure sustainable power supply across the Ashanti South operational area.
