In a move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and client convenience, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has commenced a 24-hour service at the Tema and Takoradi Ports. The service is available around the clock, offering clients continuous access to key services, particularly the issuance of Drive from Port (DP) Number Plates and the registration of construction and farming equipment.

According to the DVLA, this initiative forms part of its broader efforts to improve service delivery and meet the evolving needs of clients operating within the ports and logistics space.

“This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness in our operations, particularly in the issuance of Drive from Port (DP) Number plates as well as the registration of construction and farming equipment,” the DVLA noted in a public announcement.

The extended service hours are specifically designed to support individuals and businesses with demanding schedules that do not align with traditional working hours.

“This extended service hours is designed to cater for the diverse needs of our clients, including those with busy schedules who prefer to conduct transactions outside regular working hours,” the Authority stated.

By enabling services throughout the day and night, the DVLA hopes to ease bottlenecks at the ports, streamline the clearance of equipment, and reduce delays for stakeholders who depend on timely access to DVLA documentation. The Authority further stressed on its commitment to delivering “top-notch services to the public,” adding that the 24-hour operation “is a testament to our dedication to excellence.” The DVLA also encouraged all clients to take advantage of this enhanced service.

Additionally, the authority has cautioned against the use of unauthorized service providers to avoid the phenomenon of being issued with unapproved DP Number Plates and fake documentations.

The DVLA’s 24-hour ports service is expected to be a game-changer for importers, logistics firms, and equipment dealers who rely on seamless vehicle registration to drive business operations.
