The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched the Diaspora Summit 2025, scheduled for December 19–20, with government positioning the gathering as a platform to deepen investment, trade, and enterprise ties with Ghanaians abroad.
Speaking at the media launch in Accra, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) Nana Oye Bampoe Addo reassured the global diaspora community that their investments in Ghana remain secure. She said the event would “go beyond dialogue to deliver tangible outcomes in innovation, education, and enterprise,” stressing government’s determination to create a business environment that encourages long-term growth.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa added that the Summit would serve as a gateway for expanding trade, tourism, and entrepreneurship opportunities, while also providing high-level policy dialogue and business-to-business networking. He said the initiative builds on Ghana’s efforts to leverage the diaspora’s skills, knowledge, and resources as a driver of national development.
“The government is committed to deepening engagement with the diaspora and positioning Ghana as a hub for investment and global partnerships,” Ablakwa said. He noted that the program would also feature a special conference on reparations as part of Ghana’s leadership in advancing Africa’s reparations agenda.

Kofi Okyere Darko, Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office, stressed that the diaspora’s contribution goes beyond remittances, citing professional expertise, entrepreneurial innovation, and global advocacy as key assets to Ghana’s development strategy.
Officials expect the two-day summit to attract participants from across the globe, reinforcing Ghana’s role as a leading destination for diaspora engagement and capital flows into Africa.
