Deloitte launches TMT Predictions Report 2025

Deloitte West Africa has launched the Ghana edition of the Technology, Media and Telecom Predictions Report 2025.

The launch was climaxed with a webinar participated by policy makers and industry leaders.

Smartphones

According to the report, artificial Intelligence (AI) could make smartphones more exciting—if they can deliver on the promise.

Deloitte predicted that in 2025, global smartphone shipments will reach about 7%, up from 5% annual growth in 2024. The professional services firm also projected that that 30% of shipped smartphones will include gen AI on-device.

A Deloitte study also found out that 50% of those between the ages of 24 and 45 years old agree that gen AI features make them likely to upgrade their smartphones sooner than they had planned, versus 7% overall.

Why Does It Matter?

The report said smartphones could be even smarter.

“Generative AI can offer a way for them to become more personalized and aware of user interactions and intentions, and more intimate through conversational interfaces”.

What Should Companies Consider?

The report urged companies to pay attention to the rate of adoption and usage of next-generation gen AI smartphone features. This will indicate consumer readiness and market fit.

Also, companies were advised to understand how smartphone ecosystem owners see the future of personal mobile computing.

Studio

Furthermore, the report alluded that large studios will likely take their time adopting generative AI for content creation though social media isn’t hesitating.

It added that studios are experimenting with generative AI content creation but will likely be cautious in moving it into full production.

“The tools are immature, and public models may expose them to liability and threaten the defensibility of their intellectual property (IP)”, it mentioned.

In 2025, Deloitte predicts that the biggest TV and film studios will commit less than 3% of their production budgets to generative AI content creation.

Why Does It Matters?

The report revealed that studios may hope to slow the potential disruptions that gen AI can pose to talent and content, while more quickly adopting gen AI tools that can help reduce costs and accelerate performance across their businesses.

“While content creation with gen AI can enable greater creativity in pre-production, it cannot yet deliver Hollywood-level productions”.

What Should Companies Consider?

The report urged firms to remain cautiously experimenting with gen AI content creation tools.

Their capabilities, the said are evolving quickly, and independent studios and creators are already adopting them.

Stadium

The report stated that ambitious stadium projects aim to bridge public-private investment goals.

As such, sports owners can transform stadiums into destinations, driving socioeconomic growth, community engagement, and revenue diversification.

Why Does It Matter?

The report pointed out that infrastructure developments can maximize outcomes for private investors through diversification opportunities, whilst simultaneously accelerating socio-economic objectives for the public sector.

In this regard, sports organizations are looking to infrastructure development to help increase capacity and enhance the lifetime value of their fans.

What Should Companies Consider

The report said the development of sports stadiums should no longer focus on a single club’s interests in developing new and enhanced stadiums, and therefore, the community benefits should infiltrate various aspects of decision making.

Again, with growth as the common goal, sports investors can work with governments and communities to supercharge the socioeconomic impact of sport.
