The Ashanti Regional Police Command has secured the conviction and sentencing of three armed robbers involved in a daylight robbery at Boubai in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The convicted individuals are Mamudu Issah, Samuel Takyi, and Alhassan Abubakari, all 18 years old were sentenced by the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and seven counts of robbery.
In addition, Mamudu Issah was found guilty of causing harm.
The robbery took place on July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., when the suspects, along with three accomplices still at large, attacked residents using machetes while riding two unregistered motorbikes.
They made away with mobile phones, cash, and bags.
Thanks to the quick intervention of community volunteers in the area, the suspects were arrested later the same day at their hideout in Aboabo.
The volunteers recovered ten mobile phones and three bags believed to be stolen and handed both the suspects and the items over to the police.
At a court hearing on July 8, the suspects were sentenced as follows,
Mamudu Issah: 10 years’ imprisonment on each robbery charge and 3 years for causing harm, all to run concurrently.
Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari 10 years’ imprisonment each on robbery charges, to run concurrently.
The convicts have since been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons to serve their sentences.
In a statement, the Ashanti Regional Police Command praised the community for their vigilance and cooperation.
“We commend the community volunteers whose swift actions made this arrest possible,” said DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit.
“We continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activity to help maintain law and order.”
