BoG Set To Crack Down On Abuses In Digital Lending

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has announced it will issue comprehensive guidelines on digital lending by August 2025, in response to a troubling rise in exploitative lending practices targeting vulnerable Ghanaians. Dr. Johnson Pandit. Asiama, Governor of the Central Bank cites the lack of transparency in interest rates, the violation of data privacy, and the use of unethical recovery methods as drivers of the upcoming guidelines.

Canadian Firm Rektron to Acquire 60% Stake in Ghana’s AT Telecom

Canadian infrastructure giant Rektron Group Inc. has announced plans to acquire a 60% controlling stake in AT Ghana, the state-owned telecom operator formerly known as AirtelTigo. AT Ghana currently serves 2.3 million customers.
