Brendan Wiredu scores first Plymouth goal in EFL Cup win over QPR

England-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Brendan Wiredu, opened his scoring account for Plymouth Argyle in their win over Queens Park Rangers (QPR) on Tuesday night.

The central defender was handed his second start of the season following his move this summer as they faced QPR in the EFL Cup.

QPR took the lead in the game after 21 minutes through Daniel Bennie, before Rayan Kolli made it 0-2 before the halftime whistle.

However, everything changed in the second half when Wiredu spearheaded a comeback at home.

The former Fleetwood Town centre-back scored three minutes after the break to half the deficit.

Owen Oseni then scored to tie the score before he went on to complete his brace and turn the game around for Plymouth.

The 3-2 win sends them into the next round of the competition.
