The family of the late highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has announced plans to open a Book of Condolence and host a candlelight vigil in his honour, as tributes continue to pour in following his passing after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by Baba Jamal & Associates, legal representatives of the Fosu family, the public was informed that the Book of Condolence will be opened at Daddy Lumba’s private residence in Kinshasha Crescent, Accra, starting Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

The family expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming love and support shown since the announcement of Lumba’s death, stating:

“In this time of deep grief, your kindness and solidarity have brought us great comfort.”

A candlelight vigil night, held under the auspices of Creative Arts Agency, has also been scheduled for Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at Independence Square, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The vigil is expected to draw fans, creatives, and dignitaries from across the country and beyond, all gathering to celebrate the extraordinary life and musical legacy of one of Ghana’s most influential and beloved entertainers.

The family, while inviting the public to join in the celebrations, also urged Ghanaians to respect their privacy during this time of mourning.

“We kindly ask the public to continue to respect the privacy of the family as they mourn their lost icon, while also joining us to celebrate the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of our beloved Daddy Lumba,” the statement read.

Details regarding the final funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

The late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known for timeless hits and an unparalleled influence on Ghana’s music industry, leaves behind a rich catalogue and a generation of fans inspired by his artistry, charisma, and commitment to highlife music.
