BCM Ghana denies claims of avoiding talks over Tarkwa workers’ benefits

Mining contractor BCM Ghana has strongly denied media reports alleging its refusal to engage in dialogue over end-of-service benefits concerning former employees at its Tarkwa operations.

The company described the reports as misleading and counterproductive to ongoing resolution efforts.

In a statement released Wednesday, 9 July, BCM Ghana emphasised that it remains committed to a fair and lawful settlement of the matter and continues to engage constructively with relevant stakeholders, including union representatives and its principal client, Gold Fields Ghana.

“These reports misrepresent the facts and risk undermining ongoing efforts toward a fair and lawful resolution,” the company stated.

BCM Ghana clarified that its contractual arrangements at the Tarkwa site were governed under the operational framework of Gold Fields Ghana, and that it is working through that framework to address all employee-related concerns.

The company reaffirmed its willingness to engage in dialogue and assured all parties of its intention to resolve the issue responsibly.

“BCM Ghana acknowledges the concerns raised by its former employees and union representatives and affirms that it remains actively engaged in dialogue,” the statement read.
