Atlantic Catering has made history by becoming the first Ghanaian full-service catering and hospitality company to sign on to the United Nations Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The milestone was marked, during a private onboarding ceremony at the company’s head office in Accra, attended by senior executives of Atlantic Catering and representatives of UN Global Compact Ghana.

The UN Global Compact unites businesses worldwide that are committed to operating responsibly and aligning their with ten universally accepted principles covering human rights, standards, environmental stewardship, and anti-corruption. The initiative also supports broader efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDGs).

Welcoming Atlantic Catering into the global network, Mr. Tolu Lacroix, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Ghana, praised the company’s decision as a major step for the hospitality in Ghana. “ like Atlantic Catering play a vital role in shaping a business environment that is responsible, ethical, and future-focused,” . “Their participation strengthens our mission to advance sustainability across all sectors of Ghana’s .”

Atlantic Catering, known for providing high-quality hospitality services to corporate clients, aviation, and large events, is already embedding the Ten Principles of the UNGC into its operations through its CARES initiative. The programme focuses on waste reduction, ethical sourcing, staff welfare, and community engagement, positioning the company as a leader in responsible business practices within the sector.

“Joining the UN Global Compact is a natural extension of our values,” said Maud Lindsay-Gamrat, of Atlantic Catering. “We understand that true hospitality goes beyond exceptional food and service, it’s about care. Caring for people, communities, and the planet.” She noted that the company sees sustainability not just as a global priority but as a local responsibility crucial to Ghana’s future.

The announcement, which coincides with World Environment Month, highlights Atlantic Catering’s growing commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting green practices in Ghana’s hospitality . “This step reflects our belief that business can be a force for good,” Lindsay-Gamrat added. “We look forward to learning, growing, and contributing meaningfully within this global network.”

As part of its UNGC membership, Atlantic Catering will report annually on its progress in implementing the Compact’s principles and share best practices with other businesses committed to responsible growth.
