Residents of Denase in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region are reeling in grief and fear after a deadly gun attack on Thursday night claimed two lives and left three others wounded.

One of the victims, Peggy Ayelbassah, was an aspiring nurse whose dreams were cut short in the most tragic way. According to community sources, she was traveling to Salaga for an admission interview at a nursing training college when gunmen opened fire on her vehicle.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Collins Adomako-Mensah, confirmed Peggy’s death in a Facebook post, describing it as a heartbreaking loss.

He revealed that she had contacted him via WhatsApp just a day before the attack, a detail that has left many in the community deeply shaken.

Eyewitnesses recount a terrifying scene as sporadic gunfire erupted without warning, sending residents fleeing for safety.

The injured victims were rushed to Offinso Saint Patrick Hospital, where medical teams are working to stabilize their conditions.

Local leaders suspect the shooting may have been premeditated rather than a random robbery. “This didn’t look like a robbery.

The way the shooting was carried out, it seemed targeted,” said Kwabena Asamoah, Unit Committee Chairman for the Denase Electoral Area.
