Preparations are underway in Kumasi for the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 98.

The rites will be observed at the Manhyia Palace from Monday, September 15, to Thursday, September 18, 2025.

 

According to the official programme, a filing past will be held from Monday to Wednesday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, sitting in state from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day to receive mourners.

On Thursday, September 18, the filing past will run from  5 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the burial service at 3 p.m.

The sequence of attendance has been outlined as follows:

 

Monday, Sept. 15: Churches, clergy, political parties, educational institutions, NGOs, telecommunications companies, corporate institutions, recognised associations, and the general public.

Tuesday, Sept. 16: Judiciary and Ghana Bar, security agencies, Ghana Armed Forces, Police, Fire Service, Prisons Service, Immigration, Customs, SOEs, public officials, financial institutions, and the general public.

Wednesday, Sept. 17 Ministers of State, diplomatic corps, parliamentarians, MMDCEs, non-Asante chiefs, mining companies, and the general public.

Thursday, Sept. 18: The Presidency, former presidents and vice presidents, diplomatic corps, and the general public.

 

The Manhyia Palace has also opened a donation account at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, Harper Road Branch, under the name KTC-Nana Konadu Yiadom III Funeral.

 

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who was enstooled in 2017, played a central role in Asanteman’s traditional leadership and was widely respected for her guidance, wisdom, and support for women and children.

Her passing has been described as a monumental loss to Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.
