Adum fire victims to receive GHs600k immediate support

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced that a total of GHC600,000 has been raised within 24 hours to support traders affected by the recent devastating fire outbreak at Adum, Kumasi.

The fire incident which occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 21, destroyed several shops and properties, leaving many traders counting their losses.

In a statement, Dr. Amoakohene revealed that the funds were mobilized through donations, including Gh500,000 from a generous philanthropist and businessman to support 50 victims and an immediate relief package of Gh100,000 from the Gender Ministry to assist the most vulnerable affected by the fire incident.

In an interview with Luv FM’s David Akuetteh on the ‘Luv in the Morning’ show, Hussein Ibrahim, an Aide to the Ashanti Regional Minister, revealed that the ‘generous philanthropist and businessman’ was specific about who he wanted his donation to go to.

“Some of the victims are students, and single parents among others. The businessman particularly singled out that we should give the money to these people,” he said.

He explained how the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) plans to reach the vulnerable ones among the fire victims.

“We are going to take their data, then we assess and deduce these people and bring them out to support them. We are working it out and I know by the close of the day, everything will be done,” he stated.
