Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned a 50-bed capacity Police Hospital in Kumasi, fully funded by the Police Welfare Scheme.

The hospital is expected to enhance healthcare accessibility for police personnel, their dependents, and the public   public.

In his speech, the Interior Minister commended the leadership of the Ghana Police Service and the custodians of the welfare scheme for their exceptional foresight in ensuring sustainable access to healthcare for officers.

He noted that the hospital is not just a building, but a symbol of what can be achieved when unity meets purpose.

The Minister pledged Government’s commitment to ensure that this hospital is staffed, equipped, and maintained to the highest standards. He revealed that the construction of the Tamale Police Hospital, which is 80% complete, and the recruitment of medical staff for both the Tamale and Kumasi hospitals are underway, with operations set to commence soon.

Hon. Muntaka urged the management of the Ghana Police Service to ensure a high-maintenance culture to keep and safeguard the well-being of personnel, their dependents, and, by extension, the general public.

The Director General Welfare of the Ghana Police Service, COP Iddi Lansa Seidu, stated that the hospital represents the deep values of solidarity and responsibility that underpin the Service.

He added that the hospital reinforces the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to the well-being of officers, their families, and retirees.
