Ghana will participate in the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, , with a focus on promoting its digital transformation and forming strategic partnerships within the global ICT sector. The country is scheduled to take part on September 11, 2025, during the six-month exhibition that runs from April 13 to October 13, 2025, under the theme “Designing Future Societies for Our Lives.”

The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation confirmed Ghana’s participation at a press briefing in Accra. The event will serve as a platform for Ghana to showcase ICT across , e-governance, digital health, and smart solutions.

“The Osaka Expo 2025 presents a unique opportunity for Ghana’s ICT sector to shine on the global stage,” said Mr Samuel George, Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation.
“Our participation will highlight innovative projects and services by Ghanaian private sector organisations… These advancements are driving Ghana’s digital transformation, exploring potential Japanese partners, creating and improving lives.”

The Expo will bring together global ICT leaders for discussions on current trends, challenges, and opportunities. Ghana’s presence will include -to-business sessions aimed at linking Ghanaian institutions with Japanese counterparts, to foster collaboration and build long-term alliances.

Mr George stressed on the government’s ongoing collaboration with the private sector as central to the country’s ICT strategy.
“By partnering with dynamic ICT firms in the country, we aim to open doors for meaningful partnerships, attract investments, and build bridges with Japanese businesses,” he said.

The government is also exploring a memorandum of understanding with Japanese institutions to advance cooperation in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, capacity building, and technology transfer.
“We look forward to leveraging Japan’s expertise to strengthen our ICT ecosystem, from expanding broadband access to training our youth in emerging technologies like and coding,” the Minister added.

A speech delivered on behalf of Mr Hiroshi Yoshimoto, Ambassador of Japan to Ghana, praised the Ghanaian government for its in promoting a . He stressed that productivity and job creation depend on modernising public and private sector operations through digital innovation.
“Japan is open for business, and we welcome increased collaboration between Ghana and the Japanese partners in this sector,” he said.
